Fernie “The Surf Freak” is the fifth character to join The Tongue Riot Series™, our eight-drop tribute to the raw, irreverent graphic culture that shaped skateboarding in the late ’80s and ’90s.
Straight out of some polluted tropical break, Fernie is permanently stoked, slightly decomposed and definitely not coming back to shore.
 
Created by A. Scott Thomas, the oversized back artwork packs the full character into a chaotic surf scene filled with saturated colour, grotesque details and the unmistakable old-school attitude behind the entire series.
 
The front keeps things clean with a small The Backyard Apparel signature graphic on the left chest, leaving the main artwork to take over the back.
 
Printed on our black organic cotton regular-fit tee and finished with the signature woven label at the lower hem.
